There are two main traits that they need to have. These are empathy and compassion. If neither of these is in evidence, then it’s time for a career move elsewhere. The support worker must also have a pleasant nature and a great sense of humour. They will be faced with all manner of situations and circumstances. There is also a lot to be said for being a fit and physically together person. For example, there may be times when you are required to do manual jobs and, or assist the person you are caring for with tasks.
